Business Intelligence developer

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Developing meta data models using Cognos Framework Manager;

• Developing business reports and dashboards using Cognos Report Studio and Workspace;

• Designing and developing Cynamic Cubes using Cognos;

• Providing support in administering Cognos platform;

• Providing technology consulting to external customers and internal project teams;

• Providing technical support and/or leadership in the creation and delivery of technology solutions designed to meet customers’ business needs and, consequently, for understanding customers’ businesses;

• Maintaining knowledge of leading edge technologies and industry/market domain knowledge;

• Applying intermediate level of subject matter knowledge to solve a variety of common business issues;

• Working on problems of moderately complex scope;

• Acting as an informed team member providing analysis of information and limited project direction input;

• Exercising independent judgment within defined practices and procedures to determine appropriate action;

• Following established guidelines and interpreting policies;

• Evaluating unique circumstances and making recommendations;

• Delivery of assigned tasks within the delivery cycle of a project;

• Installing new systems applications; updating applications; creating boundaries for as well as performing configuration and testing activities and participating in customer meetings;

• Working with minimal direction from the technical lead and with customer nominated representatives to accomplish assigned tasks; and,

• Contributing to design for specific deliverables and assisting in the development of technical solutions.

Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:

• Three to five (3 – 5) years of technical experience and a Bachelor of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in computer science or related area of study; without a degree, two additional years of relevant professional experience (5-7 years in total);

• Sufficient depth and breadth of technical knowledge to be individually responsible for the implementation of a specific deliverable;

• Ability to contribute to the design for deliverables;

• Ability to perform/drive resolution of problems on individual products;

• Ability to communicate broad and specific concepts with team and to peers;

• Ability to produce documentation for use by team and customer; and,

• Experience with Cognos Framework Manager, Cognos Report Studio and Workspace and Design/Develop Cynamic Cubes
